YouTube accidentally blocks live stream of Democratic National Convention

Yesterday, YouTube accidentally blocked the official live stream of First Lady Michelle Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention, the presidential nominating convention held every four years in the USA. The video of the live stream showed an error message, stating that it was blocked on copyright grounds. According to YouTube, the error message was incorrect and was only showed briefly and neither the live stream nor any of the channel's videos were affected.

The most likely explanation for the accident is that YouTube’s content filters captured the video. These filters automatically block videos that appear to match copyrighted video content uploaded by media giants, including EMI Music Publishing, Dow Jones, New York Times Digital and Warner Chappel.

Remarkably, the video still isn't available after the error message had been removed. Instead, it is marked as private now. Hopefully, Michelle Obama's live stream speech will be available soon, so the controversy around this incident will depart.
