Dutch Green Party longs for minister Rosenthal’s points of view on SOPA
The Dutch Green Party asked parliamentarian questions to the Dutch minister of Foreign Affairs Rosenthal on his opinion about SOPA, the American controversial Stop Online Piracy Act. Many opponents have urged the American government to adjust SOPA. The act is controversial because internet users can be cut off the internet in order to counteract copyright infringements, without the intervention of a judge.
Arjan El Fassed, a member of the Dutch Green Party, would like to know what Rosenthal’s thoughts are regarding SOPA. Among other things, El Fassed wishes to know how minister Rosenthal reviews SOPA in context with the international conference on internet freedom, which was recently organized by minister Rosenthal in The Hague. Hillary Clinton was present at the conference on behalf of the US. In addition, El Fassed also wonders whether minister Rosenthal spoke with Hillary Clinton about concerns regarding SOPA, especially because the plan also may affect Dutch internet users.
We will report minister Rosenthal’s answers when they are published.
