After Spotify and Deezer, Rara launches music service in the Netherlands
Online streaming music services seem to become more and more popular in the Netherlands. Online streaming service Spotify was a hit, but recently also the French music streaming service Deezer became available and the new Rara was launched yesterday in the Netherlands.
Rara is an initiative of Sony Universal, EMI and Warner and is now active in 18 countries, including the U.S. and the U.K. The music service also has local agreements with artists in each country and offers a total of 10 million songs. Like Spotify, the company hopes to offer 20 million songs by the end of 2012.
Now, the business comes with a special offer: the first three months free unlimited access for 99 cents, which is the same as a song on iTunes. After these months, the user pays five dollars a month for unlimited access to music, and ten dollars in case the music is received on a mobile phone. Rara uses the same prices as its competitors Deezer and Spotify.
Rara has not partnered with Facebook just yet, unlike Spotify and Deezer. Deezer and Spotify work with Facebook, where the music is integrated into the social network and music can be shared with friends. The company does have a deal with HP, where the service is installed on new computers. Also, there are already apps available for the new service for iPhone and Android.

The 99 cents offer for the 1st 3 months is pretty cool, I made an account just yesterday and so far, I personally find it ok. No ads, simple design, really easy to use. And they do offer the possibility to publish on facebook the songs you are listening to, actually. I am not sure if I am going to keep my account after the 1st three months but until then, since it's really so cheap, I will take the opportunity and save all the rara music that I like to my computer like this: http://audials.com/en/how_to_rip_record_internet_radios/rara.html. Afterwards I will decide if I want to keep my account or not.
