Rightsflow helps YouTube to guarantee copyrights

Youtube has acquired the company Rightsflow. This company helps songwriters, recordings artists, record labels, distributors and online music services to manage their music rights. With Rightsflow, YouTube hopes to provide an easier way for rights holders to manage their copyright protected work.

Rightsflow contains a database with more than thirty million songs. By linking this database to YouTube videos, it becomes easier and faster for rights holders to identify a song. The rights holder may then choose to claim part of the ads revenue or decide to make take the video offline.

YouTube has already invested millions in content management technology, like its Content-ID program that allows rights holders to manage their content.
