Download and streaming market has a turnover of €33 million in 2011
The Dutch digital music market, which consists of downloads and streaming, has a turnover of 33 million euros in 2011, according to entertainmentbusiness.nl. This information has been published by research company GfK Retail and Technology.
The report "Facts to share” of Considerati shows that in 2010 the turnover of downloads of music albums and singles was 17,2 million euros. Furthermore, the license revenue of streaming services in the music industry was around 2,67 million euros, according to the trade association of the Dutch entertainment industry (NVPI).
With respect to streaming, it's clear more and more consumers are using streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube. In 2012, GfK expects streaming will become even more popular, because of the launch of several new streaming services like Deezer.
Regarding downloads, apparently there are still enough people who are willing to download and pay for albums, as the album 21 of singer Adele was downloaded more than one million times on iTunes in Europe.
