U.S. government returns seized domain

The U.S. government returned DaJaz1.com, the seized domain, after it appeared that there was no evidence of copyright infringements on the website. A year later, the site is in the air again.

In November 2010, the U.S. government seized DaJaz1.com’s domain as part of ‘Operation in Our Sites', a project involving the seizing of several domain names as a result of suspected copyright infringements on the websites. However, several reports showed that DaJaz1.com’s music files were provided to the site with consent from record labels. According to the reports, the record labels gave their consent in order to let DaJaz1.com distribute the music to fans.

The U.S. government did not begin the necessary forfeiture procedure against DaJaz1.com immediately. The procedure was extended each time. This month, the government finally decided to not take legal action against DaJaz1.com and give the seized domain back to the website holders. It seems the government did not have sufficient evidence to proof copyright infringements taking place on DaJaz1.com.
