Dutch independent (smaller) music companies joined the interest group named STOMP, a foundation for independent music producers. The foundation represents independent music companies and helps them get in contact with international interest groups for the entertainment industry such as Impala and NVPI.

An important aspect of STOMP is that the foundation supports the interests of independent music companies with respect to legal protection of the musicians. Nowadays, this protection is crucial, as a great amount of music is illegally uploaded online and musicians suffer damages from these activities. Furthermore, the foundation focuses on promoting new initiatives regarding the legal digital distribution of music, such as negotiations with parties that facilitate streaming music services.

The first year's membership to STOMP is for free. After the first year however, payment is required, but the contribution will be as low as possible in order to make it attractive for musicians to become a member.
