YouTube offers new business model for artists

Next week, the video site YouTube provides new features to artists. On artists's own YouTube channel they can offer their fans downloads of their music, concert tickets and even unique meet-and-greets. Through the new features YouTube realizes a music store for artists.

For the development of the new features YouTube is working with several companies. It is possible for artists to sell merchandise like shirts, caps, etc. via Topspin and through Songkick concert tickets can be bought. The digital music downloads are made possible by iTunes and Amazon. With over 800 million visitors a month, it seems YouTube is a good platform for artists to not only sell their music, but also to offer merchandise such as concert tickets and t-shirts. The new features will be globally available for artists on YouTube in the next few weeks.

Below you can find a small sample of the new features' layout on YouTube.

Indeed it should be 800 million visitors a month instead of 800 million visitors a day. Thank you for notifiying me. I'll correct the mistake.
