Electronics company Media- Saturn announced the arrival of a new music platform, called Juke, on the electronics fair IFA in Berlin. The service looks a lot like its competitor Spotify. Just like this Swedish music service, Juke offers access to 13 million songs for €10 per month. Its also possible to get a subscription to Juke for three (€29,50) or six months (€58).

Like Spotify, Juke also offers offline songs to mobile users. The difference with Spotify is that streaming songs from Juke costs money. On the contrary, Spotify also offers songs for free.

Furthermore, Media-Saturn announced that Juke’s songs have a unique music quality. To compete with Spotify, the service uses an advanced audiocodec ‘Dolby Pulse’. According to Media-Saturn, this audiocodec makes sure users of Juke use less of their bandwidth and virtual memory while streaming.

For now, Juke is only available in Germany. Whether or not Juke will expend to other countries such as the Netherlands is not clear yet. It will be interesting to see if Juke will turn out to be strong competition for Spotify.
