Growing market for entertainment products in the Netherlands

For the first time this year the Dutch market for entertainment products shows an upward trend. Last month (june 2011) Dutch consumers bought more entertainment products than the forgoing month(s) in 2011. The turnover on entertainment product decreased however, yet only slightly (0.3 percent), according to figures from GfK Retail and Technology. Smaller prices for entertainment products apparently lower Dutch consumers’ threshold to purchase entertainment products.

Last month 8.2 percent more film, music and gaming products were sold in the Netherlands in comparison to the previous month. A total of 4.5 million entertainment products guaranteed a turnover of almost 61 million euro.

It seems that the figures only relate to the sale of physical products, while the sales ratio of digital and physical products is perhaps even more interesting in the current era.

GfK’s full report follows later this week. Let’s wait and see.
