Facebook will pay users to watch commercials
Social networking site Facebook is going to pay the consumer to watch commercials. Users that watch a commercial until the end, for example before playing a game, will receive Facebook Credits in return. The Facebook Credits can be used to purchase goodies such as applications for a smartphone or discount coupons for activities and events.
As the amount of advertising online is skyrocketing, it has become quite a challenge to even get noticed. For companies with a business case that relies mainly on advertising revenues, this is definitely a handicap. Facebook has incorporated much of their advertising in games, but, reportedly, very few users actually click on ads in the social network. To give users an extra incentive to watch the advertising, Facebook now developed the creative idea to pay them for it. In the next few months, we will find out how high the compensation for watching ads should be for this to work. Facebookâs initial bid is $0,10 per commercial.
