Yesterday, the Brazilian Ministry of Culture presented a schedule for the further revision of copyright legislation in South America’s largest country. Culture Minister Ana de Hollanda invites stakeholders to comment on the second version of the draft for the new Copyright Act. From April 25 until May 30 2011, interested parties can submit their suggestions for the enhancement of the bill. The Ministry intends to have the modified draft sent to the House of Representatives on July 15th.

Interestingly, Minister De Hollanda herself noted several points on which she would like to receive feedback in particular. Among these are limitations on the rights of the author, the use of protected works on the Internet, reproduction of literary works, the introduction of a unified register of copyrighted works, collective administration of copyrights and state supervision on entities for collection and distribution of copyright and licence fees.
