Gamestop to stream games to tablets

Gamestop, a US-based chain of game stores specialising in second hand trade of games will launch a service to stream games to tablets Gamestop fears that the growth in digital distribution will hamper the market for second hand games on discs.

To be able to stream games to tablets and larger screens, Gamestop has acquired Spawn Labs, a firm specialising in developing services in the cloud.

Furthermore, a Gamestop spokesperson revealed that the store is also going to sell tablets, to support their new service. And if all goes very well, Gamestop may even develop their own tablet, optimised for gaming. In this last plan, Gamestop seems to be inspired by Sony Ericsson, that with the Xperia Play develops a smart phone specially built for gaming.

When and in which countries the new service will be launched is not yet clear.
