Ajax-channel on YouTube is blocked after copyright complaints from UEFA
Ajax's official channel on YouTube was taken offline by the video website last Friday, after complaints from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) about violation of copyrights. YouTube shows a blank page after users type a request for Ajax TV, the video channel of the Dutch professional football club.
"The YouTube account of Ajax is stopped because we have received several reports of copyright infringement on this account by UEFA" YouTube said. Ajax confirmed that their channel is blocked, but it assumes that it is a misunderstanding. UEFA has not contacted Ajax directly to talk about offensive footage on the Ajax channel. It therefore appears that UEFA sent a 'notice and takedown’ letter to YouTube, requesting to block copyright infringing material on their site.
A spokesman for Ajax says: "We are working to find out what is going on. At the moment we don’t know what footage has caused this problem. I don’t think that something is posted that goes against the rights of UEFA, because we know what is protected and what not. "
