Sony is planning to further enhance their legal charges against the hackers of the PlayStation 3. The Japanese electronics and media giant plans to target services like YouTube, Twitter, PayPal, SlashDot and PSX-Scene with demands to release the identities of people involved with the hack that opened up the PlayStation 3 to non-Sony software. This follows from legal documents in the possession of PSX-Scene.

Sony aims to retrieve personal data, IP addresses, contact details, and messages from people involved in distributing information and software about the hack.

In order to counter the effects of the hack, which Sony feared would lead to large scale piracy, Sony recently released a new firmware update. This update reportedly would contain a rootkit able to perceive a hack on a console and report back to Sony about it.
