Games pirate sentenced to 2.5 years prison and $ 350,000 damages
Wednesday, American Qiang "Michael" Bi was sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison on account of copyright infringement, mail fraud and identity theft for selling illegal game copies. Bi not only loses his house, car and computer, but on top als has to pay $ 250,000 in damages.
Actually, it was Bi's own fault that his business got exposed. After sending a spreadsheet overview of his income from the illegal games to his work e-mail address, his employer called in the FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspectors. From his own statement then appeared that Bi earned $ 700,000 between 2005 and 2009 from selling the games for $ 10 each.
