Millionth Apple TV sold in the US
Apple has, since its launch three months ago, sold one million Apple TVs. Connecting this settopbox to your TV enables viewing internet content from sources like iTunes, Netflix and Youtube on your TV. If you live in North America, that is.
Furthermore, iTunes has developed into a successful media rental store. Worldwide, 400.000 episodes of TV-shows and 150.000 movies are rented there on a daily basis.
With Airplay, a piece of software that launched together with the new iOS 4.2, Apple users can now move content from their mobile devices to their Apple TV.
Nu.nl (in Dutch) reports that analists are not overly impressed with the million sales mark. Google’s internet/tv crossover, with the inspiring name Google TV, is not a big hit either. Apparently, consumer interest in the convergence of internet and TV is not at its peak (yet).
