Google takes measures against piracy
Thursday Google announced it will be taking measures to make copyright infringing content less easy to find. The announced measures are part of the world’s largest search engine’s new copyright policy. The four main changes:
- Google says to maximize the response time for taking infringing content offline back to 24 hours.
- the ‘autocomplete' function will be adjusted. When typing in the search query Google will no longer make suggestions about torrent files leading to illegal copies of movies, software and music.
- Ad Sense, Google’s ad serving program, will more thoroughly review web pages for piracy before allowing ads to be served on them
- Google plans to make legitimate movies, TV shows, and other content easier to find in search results, even if that content is only preview-able.
