Axel Braun, producer of the porn movie 'Batman XXX: A Porn Parody" sued nearly 8,000 individuals who downloaded his film.

Braun's action is in line with the growing irritation among porn producers on the free distribution of their films. In late September a group of American porn products and distributors announced to be planning action against illegal file-sharers. Besides initiating lawsuits, the strategy also aimed on the shame of porn lovers with 'specific preferences.’ The first step would be to publish the names of illegal downloaders of movies in the genre 'shemales' on the internet first.

The lawsuit is filed at the U.S. District Court of Martinsburg (W. Va). Axel Braun Productions requests the court to allow the discovery of unidentified plaintiffs through subpoenas through their Internet service providers.

And for those who are wondering, yes, even (hard) porn is protected by (Dutch) copyright law, if the standard requirements for copyright protection are met.
