Mubi offers quality movies as streams, also for the PS3
Following yesterday's news - that many people prefer streaming media over illegal downloading - today comes the news that acclaimed movie streaming website Mubi is now also accessible with the PS3.
Mubi (formerly The Authors) is a true mecca for cinema lovers: it has a database with only the best quality films from around the world, streams them in high video and audio quality, offers a variety of social networking functions and a sleek and functional design. To ensure high quality streams a range of techniques is applied.
To watch movie via Mubi, some money has to be paid; 3 euro’s for a single movie or 12 euro’s for one month (maximum 5 films). Some movies are free though. For instance, after a minimalistic login procedure, movie classic ‘Alice in Wonderland' from 1903 is already available (recommended!).
The database is still far from complete, but Mubi says to be working hard to obtain the rights of other top cinema titles, while holding quality over quantity. A jury member of the Venice Film Festival has been attracted to ensure stringent quality control.
The service is of yet only available in Europe. From October 1st Mubi movie streams are also available for the PS3.
