KickassTorrents moves servers abroad after visit from Ukrainian authorities
KickassTorrents, one of the fastest growing and most visited torrent sites on the internet, was taken offline by the owner after inquiries from the Ukrainian authorities, reports TorrentFreak.
It appeared that the KickassTorrents site was offline two days ago. TorrentFreak learned from the site’s owner that this was the result of a visit from the Ukrainian authorities. They had no order to close the site, but expressed to have “concerns about the site’s activities”. What kind of concerns the site owner could not say, but leaving the Ukraine was the best solution for all parties. TorrentFreak assumes that the concerns are copyright-related.
Mhost in Ukraine used to host KickassTorrents. Previously many torrent sites were operated from Ukraine, seemingly without much difficulty. The owner of the KickassTorrents indicated to be already relocating his server and team abroad. Apparently he has succeeded, because the KickassTorrents is already online again.
