Watching TV through the Internet (IPTV) is growing. Last quarter, the number of people worldwide that used IPTV grew with 11 per cent. This brings the total up to 26,9 million users.

European users make up just over half of the worldwide user count. On this continent, 13,6 million people use IPTV. Compared to a year ago, this is a growth of 51%. Especially in Eastern Europe, the growth was large. This is caused especially by a growth in the number of households with access to broadband Internet connections. In Eastern Europe, the growth in IPTV use was double the figure of Western Europe. France is leading, with over 7 million people using IPTV.

Most people access IPTV through a DSL connection (64%). 21% use the cable and 13% fibre. Worldwide, 445 million people have a broadband Internet connection.
