Netflix to expand services to Wii and iPhone

A source close to Netflix has indicated the service, whose mission is “TV Everywhere”, has plans to extend its Watch Instantly service to new platforms, the Nintendo Wii and Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.

On the iPhone, Netflix apps already exist to manage queues and place orders. Watching streaming TV and movies using Netflix, however, isn’t possible yet.

It is likely that this service will only be available when connected to WiFi, as streaming over the 3G network might place too high a demand on the available bandwidth.
