Last month Jammie Thomas-Rasset’s received a 1.9 million dollar fine for violating copyright law by sharing 24 songs without authorization. Once again, Thomas will appeal.

After the verdict, RIAA’s lawyers asked Thomas if she would consider a deal. Once again, Thomas refused to cut a deal with the RIAA. According to an RIAA spokesperson Thomas-Rasset\'s lawyers said their client was not interested in any settlement that would mean paying any money to the music industry or admitting being guilty to any extent.

Up and till now Thomas refusal has led to unsatisfying results for her, going from a 5,000 dollar settlement, to a 200,000 dollar fine, and now a 1.9 million dollar fine. There is a chance however that she could walk away from the nearly $2 million damage award by declaring personal bankruptcy.
