Apple to sell DRM free songs

Yesterday, Apple announced that it will no longer protect iTunes songs with DRM. As of April 1st 2009, all songs will be free of DRM. This means that all portable music devices will no be able to play music bought through the iTunes Music Store.


Apple will also upgrade the quality of the songs, encoding them in 256 kbps AAC. Furthermore, the pricing will become more dynamic with songs being sold at 69 cent, 99 cents, and $ 1,29 pricepoints.


Finally, Apple announced that iPhone owners can download songs from the iPhone Music Store using 3G instead of WiFi.
