CD sales in the United States down in 2008
The American music industry saw a further decline in CD sales in 2008. Sales were down across the board, with the steepest decline in the sales of classical music. While the sale of digital downloads was up 15% for a total of 69.8 million, it did little to stem the total loss of sales. The number of physical sales was 360.60 million, against 449.18 million in 2007, a 14% decline.
