Bittorrent closes down online store

BitTorrent Inc. has decided to shut down its online video shop, BEN (BitTorrent Entertainment Network). Last year it opened the online store as an alternative to iTunes, where BitTorrent users could rent, buy and download movies and television shows legally. This was made possible by several deals closed with Times, Fox, Warner, Paramount and MGM. The media content was protected by Microsoft’s DRM-technology.

Because of lack of profit the online store is now closed. Earlier, BitTorrent Inc. announced the installation of a new CEO, Eric Klinker. Furthermore, several employees were laid off.
