Bittorrent to close download service, lays off staff

According to the New York TImes, Bittorrent, the company behind the popular p2p filesharing protocol, is closing its legal download service and will fire half of its employees.

In August of this year Bittorrent already laid of twenty percent of its staff.

The company has also announced a major shift in its management. President and co-founder of Bittorrent, Ashwin Navin, will leave the company. Eric Klinker, the former CTO of Bittorrent, will be appointed as the new CEO.
